Reflexology

treatment reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the belief that there are reflex areas in the feet, hands and face that are thought to correspond to all organs and parts of the body.

Before a treatment, I take a detailed medical and lifestyle history.  This enables me to adapt the session specifically for your needs.  I work on either your feet, hands or face, whichever you prefer, by applying appropriate pressure with my thumbs and fingers to help stimulate the body’s own healing process and assist in bringing the body back to balance.  The treatment will help you relax which can help improve mood, aid sleep and relieve tension.  The result is an overall increased sense of wellbeing.  Click here to learn more about the various reflexology techniques I offer or to hear me talking about reflexology click here.

I am trained and experienced in:

Maternity Reflexology

Having qualified in Advanced Maternity Reflexology and gained accreditation with Napier University (SCQF level 8) I am highly experienced in this area.  During pregnancy reflexology can support you emotionally, as well as promoting a sense of well-being and relaxation.  As with all my treatments, a detailed consultation is taken to ensure the session meets your specific needs.  More info on my blog.

Reflexology for Menopause Support

Reflexology to support women during peri-menopause and menopause.  Reflexology aims to optimise physical and emotional wellbeing.

Hot Stone Reflexology

A relaxing treatment where warm stones are used to massage your feet and legs, with smaller stones used to apply pressure to specific reflexes.  This is not suitable if you are pregnant and is not available for mobile appointments.

Mindful Reflexology

Stress and anxiety can have an impact on both our emotional and physical wellbeing.  The reflexology session incorporates techniques specifically used to focus on areas of the body that may be affected by long term stress.  I will also show you some self-care techniques you can use between appointments.

Fertility reflexology

Reflexology can help support you and your partner both physically and emotionally when trying to conceive.  I have trained with, and am a member of, The Association of Reproductive Reflexologists and I work with you to support your conception journey.  Following a detailed consultation, a treatment plan will be discussed with the reflexology sessions adapted according to your requirements.

September 2023 ; Please note that I am currently only able to take on new Pre-conception clients for daytime appointments – my evenings are currently fully booked.

Reflexology Lymph Drainage

This reflexology technique, researched and developed by Sally Kay, aims to cause an effect on the bodies lymphatic system by stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet or hands.  I had the pleasure to train with Sally and am an Approved RLD practitioner.  More information on this technique and the research can be viewed here.

Facial Reflexology

This relaxing reflexology technique, which works on reflex points on the face, has been developed by Ziggy Bergman over 20 years.  You can read more about Facial Reflexology here.

Both short and full treatments are available and can be combined with foot reflexology appointments.

Reflexology for Babies & Children

Reflexology is suitable for babies, toddlers and children of all ages.  The treatment times are shortened, and the price adjusted accordingly.

In addition to giving treatments, I also provide tips and techniques to parents and carers wanting to use reflexology techniques for their own children.

I also offer a combination treatment; a short facial reflexology followed by foot reflexology treatment, or those those people wanting even more relaxation, a full facial reflexology treatment followed by a full foot reflexology treatment.  Combination treatments take longer than routine appointments; for prices see my price list.

Reflexology appointments at The Garden Room are £45 (for home appointments there is an additional charge to allow for travelling time and cost) and can be combined with other treatments I offer for an additional charge. Each treatment, including consultation, is approximately 1 hour long, although the initial consultation can take longer.  I offer a 10% discount based on advance booking and payment of 3 or more treatments after initial consultation.  For more information on opening times and prices click here.

I am a member of The Association of Reflexologists (AOR), Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT), and Association of Reproductive Reflexologists (ARR), which means that I have met their required level of qualification, adhere to their codes of conduct and am insured for all the treatments I offer.  I am also a Reflexology Lymph Drainage approved practitioner.
